Bring Your Kid to Work Day 2025: Tips for Remote and In-Office Companies
Let the (Little) Coworkers In!
April 24th is Bring Your Kid to Work Day—and at Poppin, we believe every workspace is a place for creativity, collaboration, and a little extra joy. Whether your team is logging in from a home office or welcoming mini visitors to HQ, here are smart, fun ways to make this day a hit for both you and your kiddo.
For Remote Teams: How Companies Can Support Work-From-Home Families
Bring Your Kid to Work Day isn’t just for in-office employees! With a little creativity and connection, remote teams can create meaningful moments for families—no matter where they're working. Here’s how remote-friendly companies can make the day extra special for their distributed teams:
-
Host a Virtual Welcome Party for Kids
Kick off the day with a quick Zoom hello! Invite kids and parents to a short, fun session where leadership gives a friendly welcome, team members introduce their “junior coworkers”, and everyone feels part of something bigger. -
Run a Kid-Friendly “Interview Your Grown-Up” Q+A
Check out our “Interview Your Grown-Up” Q+A to help the kids understand everyone’s job, what your company does and the things the parents like most about it! Encourage parents to share their favorite answers with the team on Slack or during a group call. -
Share the Agenda
Set up a kid’s calendar with their very own “meeting schedule” with blocks of time for activities, snacks, and quiet time. They'll love feeling like part of the team. -
Organize a Virtual Office Tour
Encourage teams to hold casual virtual meet-and-greets throughout the day where kids can hop on a Zoom call, wave hello, and ask questions like “What do you do?” or “What’s your favorite office snack?” It builds visibility and connection across teams. -
Host a Virtual Show-and-Tell
Wrap up with a virtual “What I Did Today” moment where kids can share drawings, stories, or what they learned about your job.
For In-Office Team Members: Make the Office a Kid-Welcoming Zone
Bring Your Kid to Work Day is the perfect excuse to turn your office into a hub of curiosity, creativity, and connection. For in-person employees, it’s a chance to show kids what working in an office really looks like—and for companies, it’s an opportunity to create a welcoming, memory-making experience. Here’s how to do it right:
-
Deck Out a Kid Zone
Transform a conference room, lounge, or quiet corner into a cozy “Kid HQ.” Fill it with coloring books, puzzles, building blocks, cozy seating, and of course—snacks. This gives kids a home base for the day and helps parents feel supported. -
Plan an Office Scavenger Hunt
Design a playful, age-appropriate scavenger hunt using clues that help kids explore the workspace. Can your child find “a green stapler” or “the coworker who wears the most pink”? It’s a fun way to explore the office. -
Introduce Them Around
Encourage parents to walk their children around the office to meet coworkers. Create a “Meet My Mini Me” name tag or table tent for desks, and encourage team members to share simple, kid-friendly versions of what they do. It’s a great way to build curiosity—and community. -
Get Hands-On at a Creativity Station
Set up a table stocked with supplies like notebooks, pens, washi tape, and sticky notes. See our printable prompt cards for kids to get their creative juices flowing! -
Capture the Moments and Share the Fun
Designate someone to snap candid photos of the day—whether it’s group shots, desk selfies with junior assistants, or finished masterpieces from the creativity station. Post the highlights on your company’s Slack, Teams, or internal chat, and invite employees to upload their own. Bonus: Share a collage in your weekly team newsletter or social channels!
A Few Bonus Tips for Everyone:
- Snacks are key—happy kids = focused parents.
- Create a Custom Company Coloring Book: Use Adobe Express to design a few fun coloring pages featuring company mascots, workspace doodles, or team-specific themes. Send it out as a downloadable PDF before the big day. Then, encourage employees to post photos of their kids proudly holding their masterpieces in the Slack channel!
- Offer a flexible schedule for the day so families can enjoy quality time without missing a beat at work.
